BORN OF THE SAME SOIL, was made for a charity show, 1x1 INDIA,
organized by THE LOFT, Mumbai in March 2009 to raise funds
for the victims of 26/11 Mumbai terror attack. The work juxtaposes
the image of the head of Buddha with that of a tiger. Both entities
are born of the same soil, are brothers-in-arm, but one is an epitome
of compassion, the other of savagery. Both aspects of reality are
within us, a part of us. The work does not take a ‘for’ or ‘against’ stand but leaves open the choice of which aspect to cultivate within us |
